I am utterly impressed that you knit your own socks Liz. That's something that is so cool to me. Hope you can fix it or find a way to put it to good use somehow. :)
Hi Liz- they can be, but you don't want wool that is too thick.Basically, you weave a framework of horizontal and vertical threads ( with thread, not wool) then embroider the v-shaped stitches over them, and in the end it should look just like the knitted bit.I haven't done it for a while, but my mum still darns, and once it's done, you can't see ( and feel ) the difference!!
